2026 Honorees

Phillip Boykin

Phillip Boykin is a native of Greenville, SC. He studied under the tutelage of Michael Rice at both the Fine Arts Center as a enrolled student and at the SCGSAH in their summer program. Phillip earned his BM from the Hartt School of Music and his MM from Howard University. He is a 2012 TONY Award, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards Nominee for his work in The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, a GRAMMY Award Nominee for his role as Tonton Julian in Once on this Island, the 2012 Winner of a Theatre World Award as well as the International Reviewers of New England Awards and The Distinguished Alumni and The Anchor Award from U. of H., Hartt School. Stacy Isenbarger

Stacy Isenbarger (1983-2025) was Professor of Art and Dean of the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture. She graduated from the Fine Arts Center in 2001, received her BFA at Clemson University, and her MFA from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. In 2025, the Idaho Commission on the Arts awarded her the Fellowship in Visual Arts for sculpture. She received the Foundations in Art: Theory and Education, FATE Master Educator Award, and the U of I Hoffman Award for Teaching Excellence. Her work was shown all across the United States, the UK, and as far away as India.

Dr. Roy S. Fluhrer

Dr. Roy S. Fluhrer served as Director of the Fine Arts Center for 28 years. His efforts to increase program offerings and student enrollment have contributed to the Fine Arts Center’s rise to national recognition. Dr. Fluhrer was awarded the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award in 2008 (South Carolina’s highest arts award), the Winthrop University Medal of Honor in the Arts in 2006, the South Carolina Dance Association Dance Advocacy Award in 2006, the Metropolitan Arts Council Visionary Award in 2004, and the Arts Advocate of the Year by the South Carolina Art Education Association in 2000.

2025 Honorees

Kelly Hall-Tompkins

1989 Fine Arts Center Alumna Kelly Hall-Tompkins is anacclaimed violin soloist described by the New York Timesas “the versatile violinist who makes the music comealive.” She gained widespread recognition as the“Fiddler” violin soloist in the 2016 Broadway revival ofFiddler on the Roof. Beyond her musical achievements,she founded Music Kitchen – Food for the Soul, aninitiative that has brought over 100 live classical musicperformances to homeless shelters, reaching anestimated 30,000 clients.

Marcus King

2014 Fine Arts Center graduate, Marcus is aGrammy-nominated singer-songwriter whose music hascaptivated audiences worldwide. Known for his soulfulblend of blues, rock, and Southern music, he is frontmanof the Marcus King Band. His album “El Dorado” (2020),received critical acclaim and earned a Grammynomination for Best Americana Album. He followed thiswith his next album “Young Blood” (2022) and mostrecently “Mood Swings” (2024).

Rory Scovel

1998 Fine Arts Center Graduate, Rory Scovel is an actor, comedian,and writer. His latest comedy special RORY SCOVEL: RELIGION, SEX,AND A FEW THINGS IN BETWEEN can currently be streamed on Max. He can most recently be seen alongside Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell in the Amazon romantic comedy YOU’RE CORDIALLY INVITED and in the ensemble dark comedy NO GOOD DEED at Netflix. 

Scovel appeared in Paramount’s BABYLON directed by Damien Chazelle, which garnered the cast a Screen Actors Guild nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Additional film credits include Voltage Pictures’ I FEEL PRETTY opposite Amy Schumer; Netflix’s OLD DADS alongside Bill Burr, Bobby Cannavale, and Bokeem Woodbine; New Line’s THE HOUSE alongside Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler; THE LEGACY OF A WHITETAIL DEER HUNTER alongside Danny McBride and Josh Brolin; Demetri Martin’s directorial debut DEAN which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. On the small screen, he most recently starred in the Apple TV+ series PHYSICAL opposite Rose Byrne which ran for three seasons and can be seen in season two of Peacock’s BASED ON A TRUE STORY. 

Jan Woodward

Jan Woodward is a distinguished dance educator who dedicated over 30 years to teaching at the Fine ArtsCenter (FAC), serving as Director of its Dance Program for more than 25 years. From 2002 to 2014, she coordinated the Greenville County School District Dance Festival/Showcase, creating opportunities for young dancers to perform and grow. Her leadership brought renowned artists and choreographers to the Upstate, while she also facilitated student participation in the National High School Dance Festival, leading to college acceptances and scholarships. Jan was recognized with the South Carolina Dance Association President’s Award in 2012 and as a Top Ten Teacher of the Year finalist in 2013-2014. Jan is a true teaching artist who was able to reach students from all areas of Greenville County, impacting hundreds of dancers during her time as an FAC Instructor.
